Age Verification

NUK The World offers age verification as an optional service (in most cases). We do this in order to provide the safest possible environment for the teens and young adults that use our site.

What verification does and doesn't get you

Being verified gives you access to the #verified-chat, #verified-rp Discord channels, and the Verified VC voice and video channel. This is the only channel on our server that allows video chat. We've found that today's teens find it very meaningful to share selfies and video calls, and the verification system is our way of balancing that important act of self-expression with a strong position of safeguarding privacy.

Being verified does not give you any additional privileges in Discord or the forums.

Verification versus trust

NUK The World's identity verification procedure only confirms that our members are approximately the age they claim to be. The goal of identity verification is to provide assurance to each other that you are talking to people who are have been truthful about their age. No other aspect of their identity has been verified, nor does verification imply any increased level of trust.

It's against the rules to share personally identifying information, such as your real name or precise location, on NUK The World.

Eligibility

You must be a member of NUK The World for at least two weeks (14 days) and sent at least 50 messages in Discord before you can receive access to verified areas.

You may request to go through the verification process before you reach that point, but the role and access that comes with it won't be granted until you meet both requirements above.

The identity verification process

To be verified, you need to send a direct message to a moderator on Discord. They will provide you with further instructions.

To verify your identity, you will send the staff member two pictures:

  1. A selfie showing your entire face. You must hold up a piece of paper or index card with your full Discord username (including the 4 numbers at the end) which must be clearly visible in the picture.
  2. An identification card or official document showing your date of birth. All other information can and should be blacked out.

These pictures will be checked by the staff member, and then they will confirm your verification. Once they have confirmed your verification you may delete the pictures.

Verification Privacy

NUK The World staff does not retain verification images. We record the following information in a spreadsheet at the time of verification:

  • NTW forum username, if applicable
  • Discord username including last 4
  • Discord user ID
  • Reason for age verification
  • Staff member's name
  • Date of verification
  • Real age at time of verification
  • Verification method
  • Verification result (pass/fail)
  • Staff notes

We do not retain your date of birth or any other information provided to us other than that which is specifically noted above.

Mandatory Verification

On occasion, NUK The World staff may require verification from users who have shown suspicious behavior. This includes activity such as posting in 18+ subreddits when the user has claimed to be under 18 on NTW. In this case, the user will be placed into a restricted role on Discord and in the forums until they complete identity verification. Upon receiving a passing result, they will receive full access to verified areas just the same as if they had undergone elective verification.

Losing Verified Status

As noted in rule 3.12, verified status will be permanently lost if any pictures, chat logs or screenshots from verified areas are shared with any non-verified person.
